 "Moment of Mastery"
Original Painting by Yuliya Alagir
The story of Yuliya Alagir and the Rausch family began during a season of profound change and quiet determination.
When Yuliya first arrived in Canada, she was met with the challenges of starting over in a new land—facing a different language, culture, and the uncertainty of a new beginning. In that vulnerable and formative time, the Rausch family offered foundational support.
They helped her understand the local culture, encouraged her creativity, and opened doors when few others even knew her name.
Don Rausch, a Professional Engineer, a kind and generous man with a deep appreciation for the arts, was moved by Yuliya’s determination and talent. He saw something rare in her—vision, courage, and creative power. He welcomed her work into his home not just as decoration, but as a statement. He created space within his home for her murals and paintings, offering her what became a personal showroom—a place where her art could live, be seen, and speak to others. He became a guide, a connector, and a quiet champion of her voice.
In doing so, Don became a key link in the creation of a new artistic chapter in Canada, helping bring European artistic elegance and rich symbolism to a new audience.
Don Rausch, a generous spirit and golf enthusiast, passed away suddenly from a heart attack nearly a year ago.
To honor his memory, Yuliya created this original painting exclusively for the McDonough Stampede Classic Charity Golf Tournament, with proceeds supporting men’s health—a cause that now carries deep, personal significance.
